We created this demo to connect sample pro-forma spreadsheets into massing, looking at costs/SF for revenue based on unit types and program, and cost based on construction type, which itself is dependent on how many stories the script generates. My role was to conceive of the video, define the parameters and user interface, and direct the draft demo.
To create this demo, we needed to imagine the kinds of questions our clients would want to answer, before creating an architectural program. In fact, the aim of these demos is to begin a conversation and ask tour clients the question: what would you like to measure?
For this client pitch, we analyzed a proprietary, automated parking system on a narrow site with unlimited height and FAR and only 0.5 parking stalls required per dwelling unit. In fact, there is a height minimum in this second-tier city aiming to increase density in its downtown core. Naturally, this client wanted to know: how much can we put on this site by-right? Again, my role was to define the variables, script the user interface and choreograph the operation of the script to create a demo.
