Architectural Design
Welcome to my silo. As much as I value interdisciplinarity, I also value the 20+ years of experience I have been fortunate to have in the field of architecture. As a teacher in my field and mentor, I realize there is nothing quite like the education young architects receive and nothing quite as humbling as the long, iterative process of building design and construction. In this section, I have included highlights of a long career. In general, my work in partnership and solo evinced an intentional preoccupation with systems integration and specifically, passive building systems related to daylighting, sunshading, thermal protection and natural ventilation. Since re-entering corporate practice, I have had the privilege of bringing theoretical and academic work to bear on large-scale, mixed-use development as well as individual cultural buildings. My intention as a designer is always to use simple forms in service of human experience, with complex skins, relishing the layers of the building envelope as a rich terrain of creative investigation.
